An Exclusive Interview With Chris Weaver Band

Could you share the story behind your latest song and what inspired its creation?
“Circus” it was about life on the road, touring with our band members, setting up the events, meeting new people, and having fun.

How do you approach the process of songwriting, and are there any specific themes or emotions you tend to explore in your music?

I have many approaches such as life events, the current news, childhood memories, and family. I gather them all down on paper and start exploring my thoughts.

As an indie musician, how do you navigate the balance between creative freedom and commercial appeal?

I have always had the freedom to write what I want, sing what I want, and play where I want- Once you go commercial you have too many people pulling your strings.

What do you find most challenging about being an independent artist in today’s music industry?

You have thousands of artists making music every day and dropping their latest songs on all of the social media platforms – the industry has really changed
and it’s much harder now to start as a musician and get noticed.

Can you talk about your experiences collaborating with other artists or musicians? How does it influence your creative process?

I have played with many amazing musicians and I always watch, listen, and learn from them – I keep everything that I have learned and put it on paper and go back and visit it and see where it goes.

What role do technology and social media play in promoting your music and connecting with your audience?

I think last year a rapper was created by AI – he got a record deal, so that’s crazy! We try our best on social media and that is where all of our fans find our latest songs, and upcoming events and get to see our life and what’s going on.

Are there any particular artists or genres that have had a significant impact on your musical style?

Beatles – Have always been a significant part of my style and writing.

Indie musicians often have a close relationship with their fanbase. How do you engage with your fans and build a dedicated community around your music?

I meet many fans before or after a concert, and I always interact with them on social media and let them see what’s going on besides just music.

Could you describe a memorable live performance experience or tour that has had a lasting impact on you and your music?

We opened up for Earth Wind and Fire and was an experience I will never forget.

In an era of streaming platforms, how do you feel about the changing landscape of music consumption and its impact on independent musicians?

Streaming is where it’s at and that will never change, we don’t produce compact discs anymore or records because of the prices, you can now release a new song and it can be played anywhere in the world.
