Foo Fighters Set New Record with Highest Number of Top 10s on Rock & Alternative Airplay Chart

Just under three months after sharing the record for the most top 10s on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with Shinedown, Foo Fighters have now claimed the distinction solely for themselves.

Their latest single, “Under You,” from the album But Here We Are, skyrockets from 36th to 8th place on the August 19 chart, amassing 3.1 million audience impressions—a remarkable 163% increase, as reported by Luminate.

This achievement marks the 16th top 10 for the band led by Dave Grohl, making them the act with the most top 10 hits in the chart’s 14-year history. Shinedown now holds the second position with 15 top 10 hits, having recently broken the record with “Dead Don’t Die,” peaking at No. 3 in April.

The standings for the most top 10s on Rock & Alternative Airplay are as follows:

  • 16, Foo Fighters
  • 15, Shinedown
  • 13, Cage the Elephant
  • 13, Imagine Dragons
  • 13, twenty one pilots
  • 11, The Black Keys
  • 11, Muse
  • 10, Disturbed
  • 10, Weezer

Foo Fighters previously tied the record with “Rescued,” which eventually claimed the top spot for 11 weeks from May to July. The song currently ranks at No. 2 on the latest chart with 5.2 million impressions. The band initially entered the Rock & Alternative Airplay’s top 10 with “Wheels,” reigning for two weeks in 2009.

Moreover, “Under You” concurrently climbs from 38th to 17th on Alternative Airplay and from 37th to 21st on Mainstream Rock Airplay. “Rescued” previously led both charts, maintaining those positions for 10 and six weeks, respectively.

“Under You” also makes a return to the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart at No. 17, fueled by its airplay and 269,000 official U.S. streams during August 4-10.

Foo Fighters’ album, But Here We Are, made a notable debut at No. 1 on the Top Alternative Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts in June 17 and has garnered a total of 121,000 equivalent album units so far.
